Google’s Digital Garage project is coming to Bradford to help local businesses develop their online skills. The multi-million pound initiative to provide 200,000 British businesses with digital support will run a one-off training seminar at YEN Expo Business Conference on Tuesday, October 25, at Bradford College’s David Hockney campus.

The Tell Your Story Online session, starting at 11.30am, will teach delegates how to make their website shine across all devices and improve their digital presence across social media, online video and Google My Business. A 40-minute presentation will be followed by a Q&A session allowing delegates to put specific questions to Google digital experts.

Digital Garage is part of Google’s commitment to train two million Europeans in digital skills, which includes free tutorials on everything from websites to online marketing and beyond. It is supported by the Confederation of British Industry, the Federation of Small Businesses, Business is Great and the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills.

The project was brought into Yorkshire under a partnership with Leeds City Council, and Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership.

YEN Expo 2016, previously known as Bradford Business Conference, is organised by YEN (Yorkshire Enterprise Network) and the Telegraph & Argus and is a full-day event held at the multi-million pound college building on Great Horton Road, Bradford.

YEN’s Digital Team Leader Nathan Walker said, “YEN Expo 2016 is very excited to be partnering with Google Digital Garage, offering a rare opportunity to access such high level support in Bradford. The seminar will equip Yorkshire businesses to hone their online skills and grow much more quickly, gaining a competitive advantage in an ever-changing digital landscape. So do come along prepared to learn, but also to ask questions, while we have these highly-skilled experts on hand.”

Alice Mansergh, Director of Google Marketing Solutions for UK and Ireland said, “Google’s products and free digital training are a growth engine for people and businesses up and down the country. So if you live in or around Bradford and you want to boost your career or turbocharge your business, please join us at our Digital Garage and talk to our experts. We can help you connect to new customers, help boost your productivity or improve your employability no matter what field you work in.”

The conference, which attracts around 1,000 delegates and 50 exhibition stands, is in its fifth year and has been rebranded YEN EXPO 2016, reflecting the broader reach of the event and Bradford’s re-established standing in the regional business arena.

It features a broad cross-section of seminars, business clinics and networking events, plus a line-up of inspirational speakers. Other partners are Bradford College, Bradford Council, Malik House Business Centres, FSB, and Business Enterprise Fund (BEF).
